I realize that the only thing that really matters to most of us (those of us who love the Toyz, at least) is living the rock 'n' roll lifestyle and getting in as much fun as you can before you're dead. But every once in a while, it doesn't hurt to look outside our non-stop partying bubble and see what the rest of the world is up to. As a matter of fact, sometimes the real world and our world collide, or at least intertwine, or spoon, or... even engage in sodomy.
In the U.S. election right now, the Republican party's ticket keeps bashing it's own head against the wall. John McCain has been trying for months to legitimize his campaign in the eyes of conservatives, going so far as to put Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on the ticket as his VP candidate. Alas, with the exception of a couple of good days, she's done little in the way of providing long-term help.
It doesn't help that SNL's Tina Fey satirized footage of Palin and her flute playing in the Miss Alaska contest, years ago. Nor that there's footage of a witch doctor performing a laying on of the hands to cast out any demons that may have been afflicting Palin. And then, yesterday, she made the mistake of saying that her country needed to work on relations with Afghanistan, 'one of the U.S.'s neighbours'.
But just imagine the trouble she'd be in if the world knew of her history with, the Toyz very own, Dannii Lee Damage. You thought the Tina Fey footage was damaging, how about if Damage spilled the beans about her playing a different kind of 'flute' backstage in Anchorage a few years ago. The witch doctor may have lay his hands on the Governor, but his hands have never seen the places on her that Damage's hands have. And, by God, the conservative universe would likely implode if it knew about how Damage had reached out to improve his relations with the close neighbor of the Governor's 'holy land'.
With the typical indifference the U.S. media has to anything that involves our country (unless they are planning to roll over us, crush us and take control of our resources, right Tucker Carlson and Ann Coulter...), there is little chance that these details will come to light and do any further 'Damage' to the GOP campaign. But it would be fun if they did.
Sometimes collateral 'Damage' isn't a terrible thing.
Until next time...
