Well, weekends like this one always take us back to the days of yesteryear. Sappy as that may sound, it can't help but be true. Over the weekend we said good bye to two of our longtime friends. We bid farewell to Mike Pink, our brother in musical arms in a touching service Saturday afternoon. Then over the course of four, long long weekend nights we bid adieu to the reign of Brad Pilling over the institution that is Morgan's.
Have no fear, the Toyz will still be rockin' the house at Morgan's every Tuesday. It will just be under the watchful eye of the man we lovingly call "Charlie the Bad". Fun times will, doubtlessly, be had by all. So we turn the page and look toward the future again.
Which reminds me of the time, years ago, when Likki Stixx was torn as to whether to stay in the band or take a gig drumming for Celine Dion on her Eastern European tour, through Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland. It wasn't that he didn't think the money would be great (it was...) and not that he was afraid that Celine would hit on him (she did...and did again...), it was that he was worried that he would fall victim to that 190 proof potato vodka that you find everywhere in that part of the world (and I do mean everywhere, how else do you think you get through a January night in Gdansk?). Anyway, everything worked out in the end. Likki took the gig, made (and spent...) the cash, slept with Celine and drank the vodka. Which is how he ended up back in Broken Toyz. Just as he got out of rehab, his replacement, Oliver Clozov, was going into rehab. They did a high-five on their way by each other, swapped spots and the rest is history.
Likki has been off the potato vodka ever since and the fortunes of the Toyz have shone more brightly ever since (that hush money he gets from Celine every once in a while helps...).
See ya tonight...
