Back at the keyboard after 4 days in the wilderness. A new outlook on life. Well, I had a new outlook for the first 2 or 3 hours until I got back to civilization and hit a bar for a brew or two. I must say though, for those two hours I felt like I could take on the world. It reminds me of one of Johnny Emaxx's rehab stints in the late 80's.
The Toyz had just done a 6 month club tour, opening for Cats in Boots. It had been a tough slog, the boys had been fighting like cats (!) and dogs for the last, oh...5 1/2 months of the tour. Johnny had been hitting the bottle and the chemicals (prescription, of course...) pretty hard. He spent a few days at the Betty Ford, came out in fighting shape, then rejoined the boys at their palatial suites at the Farmer's Daughter in Hollywood. Emaxx got right back on the horse (as it were) and entered his suite with two women in tow (a mother-daughter team, if I'm not mistaken) and didn't come back out for three full days. The screaming and moaning emanating from the suite left little to the imagination. I knew the debauchery that must have been going on. When Emaxx finally came out, he looked like a man whose body had been drained of every last drop of... what? Hang on...
Shit, I seem to have misremembered the facts. Maybe I wasn't so clean at the time myself. Tommy Gunns just told me that when Johnny came out of his rehab stint, his wife and daughter showed up to tell him they'd had enough. All the strange noises coming from his suite were from Johnny, as the family outlined the demands included in the separation agreement they had gotten drawn up. I guess I'd scream and moan if I was being bled dry by those who I thought were my closest and dearest. Oh well, Johnny only has three or four more years of payments on that old payment schedule, then he'll be able to keep the $27.50 he makes every week at his Tuesday night gig. Then...watch out. The old Emaxx will be back, and ladies you will be in trouble.
Catch ya later...
