Band practice, rehearsal, an out-of-control drunken orgy, whatever it is you call it when the band gets together to 'work on songs', the sessions that have gone on this week have fueled rumours that Tommy Gunns will be taking another sabbatical from the band. As in the not-too-distant past, the speculation is that he is stepping into his countrified alter ego to tour the country with the quasi-supergroup Haymaker.
While, again, this is all speculation at this point, one fact has given the rumour credibility. A familiar face has been logging hours in the guitar slot at the band's 'rehearsal space'. Tommy's little, sorry younger, brother J.J. Gunns has been firing off some smoking licks helping the band work up a new set list for the run up to the holiday season. With the Toyz being a hot ticket for corporate Christmas parties (and down and dirty private Xmas 'get togethers'...does anyone remember the one last year where Likki got busted inserting a candle shaped like a wise man into that chicks...oh, wait no one is supposed to know about that, damn.), the boys are tightening up their sound and the presence of J.J., coupled with the absence of Tommy, makes this a plausible scenario.
We understand the need to take one's shot(s) at the big time, we have one question though - country? Really? Ah well, it's not like I'm not a whore (and a cheap one at that, if this blog's pay is any indication), so I won't begrudge Gunns his shot at fame, if indeed that is in the cards. All will be well with the band's fortunes with the lead guitar in J.J.'s hands. And if he f**ks up, as always, Dannii and Johnny will still be there to cover his ass.
Rock on...
